It’s time to trade that triangle two-piece for the V-bar bikini. The top featuring an underwiring shaped in an inverted V, which rests just below the cleavage, was showcased by the Australian label Bamba, and has seen both models and vloggers flaunting their beach bods in it. Victoria’s Secret model Gizele Oliveira and Shannon Lawson were the early trendsetters to adapt this bold style in swimwear that has gone viral on Instagram largely because it flatters the bust and gives a lift to the cleavage area, creating a hot, sexy look. If you plan to flaunt one, here’s what you should keep in mind.

‘IT’S BEST SUITED FOR A LEAN AND CURVY BODY’

Designer Arpita Mehta says this bold and gutsy number is ideal for a curvaceous body. She adds, “If I had to put one on an Indian body, it would be none other than Kangana Ranaut. She has a stellar body-type, lean as well as curvy. She would, without a doubt, pull it off with ease and confidence.”

ON STYLING IT RIGHT!

Apart from strong bold colours, styling is equally important, according to designer Nachiket Barve. He says, “This style will work on athletic and curvy body types. It’s best worn by those who have a fit body. I see Priyanka Chopra carrying it off perfectly. It needs attitude and a certain pizzazz to make it work. I recommend strong solid colours and lending an ’80s vibe to the styling with a turban or a pair of big hoops or tassel earrings. It could also be worn in polka dots or stripes channeling Elle MacPherson and Stephanie Seymour from that era.”
