Travelling  far and wide could be the best possible activity for teens who aim to conquer the world in the future. Not only for recreational purposes but even for learning. Every place in this world is waiting to teach a lesson. Travelling to new places, and meeting new people opens up a part of our heart to embrace the awesomeness of the Universe, nature and her bounties. Here’s what three teenagers who are always on-the-go had to say when we spoke to them. Read on!

Never stop learning

A glimpse from Orhan’s trip to the New York City

For 19-year-old Orhan Awatramani, travel has enriched his personality. “Everywhere I go, I gain something new. Meeting new people shows me how large and small the world is, and at the same time, it teaches me how everyone is so similar. It continues to broaden my horizon every time I leave home. Having friends outside India makes you a lot more accepting of people. It makes you less judgmental and a true global citizen.” Orhan, who is currently studying Art at a US-based university through distance education, plans to continue travelling throughout his life because “you can never stop learning through travel”.

Discover your passion

Joshua John, 18, who lives in Bengaluru, thinks travel is the most fun way of learning. “When I went to Egypt and learned about their ancient history, I was completely engrossed even though I’d learned the same thing in class. Travel makes you learn so much in a completely different way, and it’s so important for children today to see what they learn because we don’t believe things unless they are tangible. Greece can make you love Math, Italy can make you love art, France can make you love architecture. Travel can help you discover your passion, and that is something so many teens lack today.” So, hopefully that’s enough inspiration for you to get on your feet. Start planning a trip even if it’s just a few hours away from home. Travel can give you so much more than sitting in a classroom, so start saving up that pocket money to go out and see the world instead.

Breaks the bubble

Ananya’s picture from her Greece trip

“I’ve always been someone who is content in her own comfort zone. Being a city girl with a large family can make you and your life feel cushioned. Travelling helps you break that bubble and see different things that you wouldn’t normally see in your immediate surroundings. It challenges you to open your mind, because sometimes, we may not be accustomed to seeing things that don’t go with our norms. What might be okay in the small towns of France might be completely unacceptable in the metropolitan cities of India, and that’s what helps you understand the world, and even discover yourself,” shares 19-year-old Mumbai-based Ananya Tuli
