Come December when popular author Durjoy Datta's novel "World's Best Boyfriend" will be available as a web series.

Publishers Penguin Random House India and producers FremantleMedia India today announced they have join hands to create the first-ever web series based on Datta's work.

"World's Best Boyfriend" is a story about love, friendship, betrayal and hatred that exists between two teens Dhruv and Aranya.

The web series will launch in December on FremantleMedia's YouTube and Facebook platforms simultaneously.

Commenting on the launch, Datta says, "I'm super stoked.

The book resonated with a lot of my readers and I am sure this series would make the story reach out to a lot more people." Ron Crasto, senior VP (Branded Entertainment & Digital Partnership) at FremantleMedia India, says, "With captivating characters and relatable themes, we're looking forward to attracting fans of the bestselling novel to our series as well as engaging new digital audiences."

Rukun Kaul, Penguin Random House India head (Digital) hopes Datta s work will "speak to the digital audiences just as poignantly as it speaks to his readers".

FremantleMedia India, responsible for producing shows such as "India's Got Talent" and "Indian Idol", recently ventured into the digital space with its web series "Confessions - It's Complicated".
