Neutral tones have been making their presence felt for quite some time now. From pale pink to skin tones to peach — this creamy palette inducing a melt-in-your-mouth sensation has been eclipsing the accessories domain too. Nude is a classic and complements most skin types and can also be mixed and matched in different ensembles. Recently Alia Bhatt was seen sporting a nude choker and Esha Gupta was spotted rocking a nude pantsuit with metallic accents from designer Nikhil Thampi. A pair of sensational nude strappy heels were seen on Jacqueline Fernandez as she promoted her new film.
Not too long ago, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner made a case for twinning in nude essentials. Even the menswear space hasn’t been left untouched by the classic hue. The Spring Summer 2017 runway is high on this hue with the likes of Haider Ackermann and Topman Design presenting it in a head-to-toe format. Say hello to summer suit form
A close competitor to this tone was pink — in particular the warm, dusty rose seen in a major way at Gucci and Topman Design. The most predictable way to wear it is in full summer suit format, but if you’re looking at embracing the trend easily without taking sartorial risks, simply add a sliver of it by slipping a pink crew neck T-shirt under your tailoring.
Designer Gabriella Demetriades played with it in both of her previous collections. “I feel nude is a classic, it’s like black it will never go out. It goes with everything and most skin tones as well, it can be worn day or night and for me it’s should be a wardrobe staple,” she says.
Sultry yet feminine
Designer Amy Billimoria calls this family of pastels her all time favourite. “It helps create a sultry yet feminine look to all kinds of silhouettes. Most definitely, a must-try trend this season. A great colour for the day as well as bold enough to create a rage on the red carpet,” she says.
Designer Shruti Sancheti feels that the colour is the metaphor for restrained opulence. “It is extremely soft yet sensuous and imparts lot of grace and femininity and looks appealing on all women of all skin tones and age group.” she says.
Designer Natasha of Natasha J Label who presented a nude biker jacket at her recent preview, seconds that. “Nudes and earthy tones are such a classic trend, that they never go out of style. The colour especially suits Indian skin tones so beautifully. Every wardrobe must always have one nude statement piece,” she says.
