Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the many actors who has been spotted a couple of times flaunting his dad bod. However, that has not seemed to have dented his sex appeal among female fans. And there may be a reason for that - take, for example, a recent study from the University of Aberdeen that presented 4,800 women with pictures of men's faces. Each picture showed a pair of faces that were largely identical, except one had more masculine features, like thicker jaw lines and stronger eyebrows. The researchers found that women from wealthier countries, such as the United States — where there were fewer threats like early mortality and disease — were less likely to prefer the manly faces than those from countries with lower GDPs. The implication? When women don't have to worry so much about threats to their survival, they instinctually go for softer and more cuddly types. So, that's where a dad bod wins.

Six-packs v/s dad bod

While both have their takers, Seema Hingorrany, clinical psychologist and author, says while men with six-packs are not on their way out in the attractive stakes, dad bods also find their takers. She adds, "In my practice I see that women these days usually get attracted to men who have softer features with toned bodies. They may not necessarily be dad bodies.I agree with the story partially that these days women may not necessarily be impressed with masculine muscles and macho looks, beefy bodies. Many come and tell me I don't want to marry someone just to show him off ,but someone who understands my needs and desires.True the physical attributes play a vital role in the selection process. Many women come and tell me they would rather prefer men who have nurturing qualities that can help at home and with children. These nurturing qualities are manifested in men who have normal bodies sometimes even in men who have dad bodies. But we cannot deny the fact that men who have perfect chiseled bodies also can have a calm and a soft nature. Our deep conditioning and mental make up makes us assume that such men may have hard core masculine traits that might not help in a relationship."

So in the battle of the bods, there is no clear winner, dad bods or not ultimately it's your personality that could make or break a relationship.
