A unique beach festival for wheelchair-bound people and their families be would be held in North Goa's Candolim beach from March 31.

"Beach Fest 2017 is a novel initiative to give wheelchair users and their families an opportunity to enjoy a completely accessible experience on the beautiful beaches of Goa," said Yeshwant Holkar, co-founder and chief executive of Umoja Travels which is organising the event.

The festival would be held at Candolim beach from March 31 to April 9, he said.

The festival will include water sports like aquatic beach chair, beach bowling, wheelchair cricket, wheelchair dancing, kite flying and sand castle competitions.

"We have always believed that every individual has equal right to access public spaces. Enjoying a day at the beach along with family should be possible for everyone irrespective of whether a person is differently-abled," Holkar said.
