AIFW 2016: Malini Ramani's inspiration comes from Supernova, Samant chooses silk route

Versatility was at full display at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week with designers Samant Chauhan opting for the drama, while Malini Ramani went all soft.

Ramani's collection was inspired by Supernova, the brightest star in the galaxy, and she said she dedicates the line to women to shine from within. "It is my interpretation if east meets west. It is sexy, soft, spiritual and Indian," Ramani said.

The silhouettes ranged from sarees, saree gowns, off shoulder dresses, ponchos, low high dresses, churidars, dhoti pants and sheer blouses in fabrics like silks, chiffons and stretch jersey.

The colour palette was soft as well with usage of black, gold nude, white and grey. The peacock was a prominent motif. The clothes which also featured heavy embroidery.

With fake snow and withered barren trees on the stage, Chauhan brought a lot of drama while he displayed his autumn winter line here as Buddhist chants and music played in the background.

His collection was inspired by the silk route along Nepal, Tibet and China. Titled Rajputana, the line featured kurtas, long jackets in earthy tones if browns, greens along with some pop of colours.
