Mumbai-based street artist and co-founder of the Kulture Shop, Jas Charanjiva, shares with Jayadev Calamur the 11 best graffiti or street art of the city

French artist Rock's work can still be seen around Bandra years after he and his art partner came to Mumbai to paint the streets. Together they're known as Poch & Rock. In 2012, Rock painted this well known piece on Chapel Road. It's one of the neighborhood favourites.

Tyler's work often revolves around socio-political themes. This piece depicts one of the most unsettling and memorable images from the Vietnam War that of a young girl running naked on a road with her back severely burned by napalm. It would be interesting to know what Tyler is saying about America here, feels Charanjiva.

The Dutch Consulate invited the two artists to create a massive mural at Mumbai's largest slum. Mashing sports heroes — India cricketer MS Dhoni and Dutch footballer Wesley Sneijder, the street art duo, united two countries in art.

The mural Nina painted on the outer wall of Gallery Maskara depicts her signature style using wide-eyed girls with child-like features.

Charanjiva is a big fan of Tika's work, saying that her work appeals to everyone. The piece conveys the diversity between animals with whom we share this planet. She encourages people to "see the beauty of the present in this moment" .

This piece reminds Charanjiva of why she loves street art. If a news story affects her, she immediately starts creating art around it just to have it on the street same night.

This is a piece was created on a day when Tika couldn't continue her New Friends mural. She created the iridescent scales of the creature's tail with foil that's used to package take-away food.

The artist painted this blue elephant on Vienna Stores in two days. It's a fun distraction when stuck in traffic at the intersection near Holy Family Hospital.

Artists: Ranjit Dahiya and Jas Charanjiva
Many would have seen Mumbai's most famous mural that took Ranjit Dahiya over 800 litres of paint to create, using the MTNL building in Bandra as a canvas. Another mural sits at The Hive. Dahiya created this artwork of Mogambo during Ganeshotsav. Charanjiva's contribution to this work was a character (in pink shirt)offering Mogambo a modak.

Artist: Luis Gomez de Teran
Just like Tika and ANO, Rome-based Gomez was invited to Mumbai by St+Art, India. His stunning mural occupies the side wall of Bandra's Jude Bakery. It's called Estasi meaning (ecstasy) in Italian. Gomez's chiaroscuro-style wall pieces are easily recognisable.
