SulaFest 2018 | We can’t wait to experience Indian culture: Sebastian Pringle
Crystal Fighters

A mix of folk, electro, punk, techno, dubstep and Spanish pop, English-Spanish band Crystal Fighters includes Sebastian Pringle, Gilbert Vierich, Graham Dickson, Eleanor Fletcher, Louise Bagan and Daniel Bingham. The band will perform in India for the first time at SulaFest 2018 and they couldn’t be more excited. Lead singer Sebastian Pringle tells us more...

You have been on so many tours since you started in 2007. A lot has been written on the energy you bring to your live stage acts. What is it that you enjoy most about live shows and touring?

Yes, I suppose we love to perform and try to relate some of the energy we have received from our travels and experiences around the world, and bring that into our live performance. We think of it as our responsibility to the music we make, wanting people to dance. If we don’t bring an energy to the music, it doesn’t translate to the performance. We want to give our 100 per cent energy to the performance and to give our music a chance.

There’s a message of love and peace in your music and you often speak of positivity in your interviews. Where does that come from?

I think it comes partly from our love for traditional music from many different cultures, and recognising that positivity that has been lost in the modern age with music, which is depressing or negative or using those type of emotions to be popular or appeal to people. We have always been positive people and want to make positive music.

How do you think your music and sound has grown over the years? Any new projects/albums/singles on the way?

Yes, we are working really hard on some new stuff for a new label and are excited to be releasing with Warner Bros. We are getting a lot of support for modernising and making new things which we love to do. With every album, we try to do something different, experiment with new genres and diverse styles that we haven’t tried before.

This is your first time ever in India and at SulaFest. How excited are you?

I can honestly say that I have never been so excited about visiting a different country, let alone play there. We can’t wait to experience this amazing culture we have been influenced by and learnt about over the last few years and fascinated by the music in different ways.

What have you heard of Indian music and what are you most excited about?

I think the spirituality in the culture and the music is amazing. You can spend your life dedicated to that music and never feel bored. Bollywood and pop music is amazing as well and we are excited to experience it first hand.
