Rick's Ramblings: Junk binge-dating

And then Dipti said, “Look at you talking about eating avocado and kale, such a healthy choice... Why the f**k can’t you make the same choices, when it comes to people you date? Why do you have to pick the wrong, rotten junk again and again.” Okay, I acknowledge it, yes, l do have a little problem of “junk binge-dating”. You know the addiction to pick people, who aren’t good for your health, but you end up picking those knowingly... Exiting, yes, sometimes very satisfying for the moment like eating a packet of chips, and washing it down with coke, but eventually quite harmful for health. But see that’s the thing, that momentary satisfaction of eating that packet of chips is so great, you just need more of it knowing fully well what it does to you health. But the high is so good, you keep going for it one packet after another.

That’s exactly what seems to be happening to some of us. We are addicted to the junk binge dates. Picking the wrong people one after another just for the rush that comes along. You’re addicted to the drama of it all, the madness, the crazy, it’s like a high, the rush of adrenaline is so addictive, it’s like being on a roller coaster. Simple and smooth-sailing doesn’t cut it anymore. The only thing that excites you is the rush of the bad junk and you just keep wanting more of that. I know it’s terrible and yet I end up choosing chips over avocado salad over and over again, but enough of it now, I have decided from next week onwards, no more chips and coke, I’m gonna eat healthy. I will make better choices in life. I’ll be at the Bombay Salad Co thrice a day and make sure Karishma and Karan make me the healthiest salads and shakes possible, but then that’s next week. For now, I’ll just finish enjoying my last bit of chips in the packet.
