Woman kills self with 2-yr-old girl

In a tragic case, a woman took her life and that of a two-year-old daughter by jumping into a water tank in the Ratnali Nadi village of Bhimda in Baitu police station area of Barmer district. Although reason behind suicide is not clear, the villagers said that the woman was mentally ill.

According to the police, Chandravati w/o Prahalad Ram, resident of Ratnali Nadi of Bhimda village of Baitu, was going for a condolence meeting at her relative’s place with some women. However, Chandravati was left behind. When the other women looked back, they did not find her. When women looked in a water tank they found Chandravati and her daughter struggling to remain afloat. The women shouted for help and the villagers pulled them out and took them to Bhimda Hospital where they were declared dead. The family members brought both bodies to the house and informed the police.
