Chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday said it was a culmination of dreams to see work being commenced on the the refinery project in Pachpadra. Raje praised and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for helping to make the project a reality and flayed the Congress for playing politics and misleading the state on the refinery issue.

Raje addressed the Prime Minister as Vikas Purush and said that the biggest event of Rajasthan was being solemnised by him. She told the public that the refinery would also be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022.

Welcoming Modi on behalf of the people of Rajasthani, Raje said elections are won on the basis of development; as Gujarat election has been won. “Jitega bhai jeetega, vikas hi jeetega,” she said was the motto now. Raje said the refinery dream has been first seen by the BJP during 2005-08 and the first well Mangla was dug during the BJP rule.

She went on to further flay the Congress and said, “Congress prepared a plan in a rush and got Sonia Gandhi to lay the foundation stone of the refinery. This was done without any preparation. And preparations need planning and deliberations.

The same was the case with Parvan Yojna where we worked extensively to put the project in working mode. But a plaque with the name of Rahul Gandhi is there, said the chief minister.

“If one takes a vehicle and travels around the state, they will come across innumerable foundation stones where projects worth Rs 50,000 crore were announced. We have worked to materialize schemes worth Rs 8000 crore over the last four years,” said Raje.

Raje praised the Centre and petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan for helping the state draw a plan for the refinery that would be be of financial benefit to the state. “We have worked for four years to put the project in order and this is a refinery that the Centre, state and the HPCL will be proud of,” said Raje.

We have worked out a deal wherein the state will get double benefits, she added.

Speaking about the capacity and refining capability, Raje said that crude from other places can also refined at the Pachpadra refinery.

On a poetic note, she said, “We do not believe in laying foundation stones, but establishing buildings. We do not sell dreams, but make dreams into a reality.” She assured the public that the refinery would be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in 2022.

She assured the local people would be first on the priority for the employment opportunities that would arise due to the refinery. She also spoke about the 16 policies that have been developed by her government for the farmers. They can establish solar energy units in their fields she said. CM Raje also gave a date for solving the drinking water problem scarcity of Barmer and Jaisalmer. “We assured that we will bring sweet drinking water and it will reach 177 villages of Jaisalmer and 403 villages of Barmer through the Pokaran-Phalsund-Balotara-Siwana lift project in September 2018.” Raje spoke about her pet project the Mukhymantri Jal Swavlamban Yojna and said it had raised the water table in the areas where water was being saved and made over 63% dry handpumps functional.

She also had a wishlist; “If the rail line for goods that is presently till Jodhpur is extended to Barmer and Jaisalmer then the local products could directly reach the ports,”said Raje looking at PM Modi.
