Couple of non-performing ministers may be axed BJP is likely to revamp its cabinet as well as organisational structure in Rajasthan ahead of assembly elections. Speculations are rife that there will be major reshuffle in the cabinet while organisation too may get fresh faces. After the debacle in Uttar Pradesh where SP and BSP joined hands to get the social engineering right, BJP in Rajasthan is also mulling over getting the right mix of castes at the helm – both in both and organisation – for ensuring the second consecutive term.

“A couple of ministers could be dropped while people may be inducted to counter anti-incumbency. There are several ministers who have not able to perform well,” said a party insider.

Speculations got wings when a meeting of ministers were convened al of a sudden at the BJP’s party headquarters. The party’s national joint secretary V Satish, state general secretary (organisation) Chandra Shekhar and state president Ashok Parnami conducted the meeting in which feedback about the government was sought from ministers who attended the meeting. Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria was not present in the meeting.

The chief minister Vasundhara Raje's visit to RSS"' Bharati Bhawan further fuelled the speculations. She returned from Delhi on Friday afternoon and spent around 2 hours at Bharati Bhawan where she is said to have discussed about changes in organisation and cabinet with Pracharak Durga das and Sah Pracharak Nimbaram.

However the suspense over the ‘Revamp Plan’ of BJP is likely to get over only after Saturday, as the Governor who is on a tour to his home state Uttar Pradesh will be back on Saturday evening.

“The Sunday is the start of Navratra which could herald some changes in BJP,” said a party worker.

According to sources, ministers complained about the non-cooperation from bureaucracy in effective governance and ground level implementation of schemes.

“There were discussions about changes in the cabinet and how to strike right caste balance for winning the assembly elections. Central leaders also emphasised on establishing public connect for better results. They said that ministers should be ready to take up role in organisation in the interest of party,” sources said.

However, Ashok Parnami denied any discussions over cabinet reshuffle and any probable change in organisation saying that all these speculations are imagination of media.

“This meeting was held to discuss on strengthening association between party and power. The cabinet reshuffle is in CM’s discretion. There is no point in talking about it if she was not present,” he said.

He said that all the ministers have been instructed to arrange for inauguration and foundation of development works in their areas at the earliest before the polls. After the meeting, V. Satish, Chandrashekhar and Parnami met Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje at her official residence.
