Sinha was speaking in Jaipur on Tuesday on the occasion of 63rd regional railway week which is being celebrated by the NWR.
Minister of state for Railways Manoj Sinha has said that the work of laying down new rail line in 64 kms, gauge conversion work of 455 km and doubling work of 183 km in North West Railway (NWR) has been completed in last 4 years.
Sinha was speaking in Jaipur on Tuesday on the occasion of 63rd regional railway week which is being celebrated by the NWR. Speaking at Birla auditorium after felicitating 71 officers and employees for exemplary work , he said that currently work of laying new line in 574 km is in progress. He informed that strengthening of infrastructure and safety of the passengers is the top priority for railways.
Replying to media queries, Sinha informed about the electrification of route is going on in NWR and Rajasthan region. He informed that in current times electrification on 1,564 km is in progress and said that sanctions regarding various electrification projects in the state were given and expressed hope that work will be completed on time. Speaking about the development of railway stations Sinha informed that 68 stations have been selected for this. Out of these, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur have been shortlisted. He said that emphasis has been laid on strengthening of already established railway lines wherein works like renewal of tracks and use of new technique are being taken up. This has resulted in reducing accidents which were less than 100 in last year.
On the occasion, TP Singh, general manager of NWR informed about the progress made by NWR and gave away the shields of excellence.
After this Sinha went to Jaipur Railway Station and saw the exhibition that was started from Tuesday.
