The Dattwas cops of Tonk district turned out be a Good Samaritan after they conducted the Kanyadaan of Mamta Mahawar, a poor girl they had adopted. In addition to raising the full expenditure for the girl child’s marriage, the policemen left no stone unturned in the reception and hospitality of the event. All the events of marriage also took place at the police station premises.
The marriage of Mamta was conducted in the Dattwas police station premises for which the entire station was decked up with lights and flowers, ready to welcome the Baraat. Mamta’s father had passed away when she was still a toddler. Even her brother died one and a half years ago after a prolonged illness.“Mamta’s mother took a loan for her son’s treatment. But after he died, Mamta started working as a labourer but was unable to pay off the entire debt.
Meanwhile, Mamta got work under MNREGA in the police station premises but somehow her wages were not handed to her and she complained to the cops about it. The station house officer spoke to the Sarpanch about the matter and her wages were released,” officials said.
Meanwhile, the staff at Dattwas police learned of the ordeal faced by the mother-daughter duo and came to learn that the mother had got the daughter engaged. She informed that she wanted her daughter to have a grand wedding.
The staff thus decided they would help out in the wedding. strict Police Superintendent of Police Yogesh Dadhich, Additional District Superintendent of Police Avniish Sharma, local MLA Hiralal Reghar and various others were present in the wedding.

- Mamta’s mother Seema Devi said that I used to see the weddings around the city and would wonder if I would ever be able to marry off my daughter in such a way.
