After Parvez Rasool declared innings at 436 to force a victory, drubbing of Team Rajasthan was very much on cards with 4 wickets falling in quick succession. It was then that the middle order batsman Rajesh Bishnoi (Sr) came to the hosts’ rescue with a thumping 101 not out. He held the reins till the end along with Mahipal Lomror (65*) who complemented the centurion well from the other end. Together they stitched a partnership of 177 runs helping Rajasthan evade a loss and earn 1 point.

The match ended in a draw with J&K earning 3 points on the basis of first innings lead.

J&K’s performance is the best example of how adversity can bring the best out of anyone who has the heart, imagination and skill. After taking lead of 106 runs when J&K made Rajasthan bat for the second time, the batters contributed to their misfortune by letting their bats move away and aslant. On a pitch that had plenty of runs to offer, first it was Dishant Yagnik (28) followed by Amit Gautam (29), Robin Bist (6) and Ashok Menaria (4) who fell an easy prey to the disciplined bowling of the visitors.

When Bishnoi took to crease with scoreline precariously poised at 69 for 4, he made sure that his team does not lose the 1 point and with every stroke his confidence increased. “Gradually the runs started coming easily and my confidence soared.Today I was in completely different zone and played with great freedom and that helped.”

He batted effortlessly and played several flashy shots. He took 138 balls to reach the triple figure that included 14 fours and 3 sixes.

Rajasthan will play their next game against Jharkhand on October 14.
