Mount Abu, the only hill station of Rajasthan is swamped with flood waters after 3 days of incessant rains. According to MeT department officials, 30 inches, 750 mm rainfall  was recorded in one day in Abu leading to disastrous flood like situation in the district Srohi where it  is located.

Pali and Jalore districts continued to receive heavy rains for the third consecutive days leading to havoc in the area.

Heavy downpour created flood like situation in Gudamalani where 10 inch rainfall was recorded over the past 24 hours. The continuous spell of rain created havoc in many isolated areas of the border district. The situation is quite grim specially in Gudamalani where streets and fields turned into rivulets and the existing ponds and dams are overflowing.

The adventure of three school-going children to take a dip in overflowing pond turned tragic in the end of their lives. According to sources, Baburam Vishnoi (15) and Bhagirath Vishnoi (10), residents of Nayakua (Mangle Ki Beri) went to school and while returning they planned to take a dive into small pond created by rain. They failed to calculate the depth of the pond and drowned. Bodies of both the deceased were recovered and handed over to the kin after autopsy. The IAF and Army along with NDRF team continued to conducted rescue operations on Tuesday.

The police said that both were accompanied by a boy named Dinesh who saved his life by climbing a branch hanging near the slope of the pond. In a similar incident 5th class student Bablu, a villager of Thob, drowned when he was swimming in a pond situated near Mega Highway.

According to MeT department nearly 10 inch rainfall was recorded in 10 hours on Tuesday in many areas of Barmer and there are floodlike situations in Samdadi, Gudamalani and Dhorimann areas. The district administration has issued alert and teams of SDRF and administration has been assigned the task of clearing logged water.
