Prime Minister’s Office has ordered an inquiry into irregularities in recruitment of nurses. Acting on a complaint from a candidate Prem Kumari, the PMO has asked chief secretary NC Goel for the inquiry into this matter.
Despite repeated orders by the court for specially abled people, the health department has not given appointment to eligible candidates even after five years. Finally, Prem Kumari wrote a letter to the PMO describing ordeal faced by her and other candidates.
“After exhausting all options, I finally wrote a letter to the PM. His office inquired about the matter. Hopefully, after the PM’s intervention we will be given jobs,” said Prem Kumari.
The PMO not only asked CS to initiate an inquiry into the matter but spoke to Prem Kumari as well. Immediately, after receiving orders from the PMO, the chief secretary ordered ACS (health) to conduct the investigation. The inquiry is giving sleepless nights to health department officials as many ineligible people were given the appointment.
For nurses second-grade recruitment there were 15773 posts against which 11497 people were given the appointment. The second list of 4618 GNM is yet to be released. There were 402 candidates were on the waiting list and candidates from other state with bonus marks were 55. Three percent seats were reserved for people with disability. However, a conspiracy was hatched and rules were changed in 2016. Under the new rules, only 'lame' person considered eligible making all other disabled people out of contention for the jobs. But, somehow disabled who were fine with both legs got the job. It was not possible without the involvement of the officials as exposed by the ZEE Media.
