Work commencement at Barmer refinery in the election year and to have prime minister Narendra Modi to mark the occasion, chief minister Vasundhara Raje played a master stroke to keep BJP possibilities intact not only in Barmer but the entire Marwar region. Arrival of PM has boost BJP machinery across 32 assembly and 4 parliamentary constituencies. This momentum that BJP has gained with the function, if carried further can help BJP gain advantage in assembly elections to be held by end of this year.

The huge public gathering at the occasion was witness to the BJP cadre hold on the area, that once was considered to be Congress stronghold. PM Modi too in his address mentioned of former NDA minister, Jaswant Singh and former chief minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and attempted to appeal the local supporters of these leaders that once had laid foundation of BJP in the area.

CM Vasundhara Raje too carried further the legacy of predecessors and has been able to associate more communities with BJP. As a result, in previous elections, BJP gained victory on 29 assembly constituencies and all the four parliamentary constituencies of the region. The Congress was limited to just three assembly constituencies of Sardarpura, Sanchor and Barmer. However, former chief minister and general secretary of Congress, Ashok Gehlot was able to register victory at Sardarpura and thus remain a challenge to BJP sustaining the lead.

However, the mega refinery show of PM Modi has raised the bar for political battle.
