When political stars create stir

Down to the wire, it was official on the last day of filing the nominations! BJP candidates Jaswant Singh Yadav, Ram Swaroop Lamba and Shakti Singh Hada signed on the dotted lines for Alwar, Ajmer and Mandalgarh bypoll on Wednesday. To bolster the morale of the candidates, party stalwarts were present. It was time for the political paparazzi to go hammer and tongs with the flashguns. The media was, obviously, on a hyper mode to grab that “exclusive” byte. By noon, it was evident that the poll fever was gradually picking up and the temperature was felt even in the chilly January morning.

Senior leaders, including BJP state president Ashok Parnami, national general secretary Bhupendra Yadav and over a dozen cabinet ministers of Raje government were present.

Jaswant filed the nomination paper in the presence of Parnami. In a rally held prior to filing papers, Yadav called his rival Congress candidate Karan Singh Yadav an outsider and sought votes from gathering presenting himself a ‘local’. Meanwhile, Parnami also counted the “achievement” of the government and took on Congress leaders. Ram Pal Jat, former BJP leader and a farmers leader, has also filed nomination papers here. The gathering came in thousands to attend the rally boosted the party leaders; however, the absence of Baba Balak Nath, disciple of MP Mahand Chand Nath whose untimely death created vacancy on the seat, was point of talking among the people.

On the other hand, Lamba filed nomination papers at Ajmer collectorate office. Senior party leaders, Bhupendra Yadav, union minister CR Choudhary, Panchayati Raj minister Rajendra Rathore were present on this occasion. Addressing a rally, Lamba appealed a mass gathering to vote him in order to serve them.

“In the manner my father Late Sanwar Lal Jat served the people, I would walk on his footsteps and work for all 36 castes. My aim is to serve the poor and farmers,” said Lamba. Meanwhile, higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari  addressed the rally and took a jibe at Raghu Sharma.”

Sachin, Gehlot put up United Party Act

It was like a scene taken from a high-voltage cricket match where the batsmen scramble in to save a stumping situation. Down to the last day, to generate political heat, Congress’ Raghu Sharma filed his papers in the presence of BIG NETAS at the office of Ajmer district collector Gaurav Goyal who is also the district electoral officer.

It was a show of strength for both parties which claimed their respective victories in the forthcoming bypolls in Ajmer, Alwar, and Mandalgarh slated on January 29.

It is needless to say that Congress Party’s BIG ONES were there to buck up the candidate.  Sachin piloted his rally and was also a proposer for Sharma. Ajmer is the home turf of Sachin and the final tally will play a pivotal role for quite some time to come. Raghu, known for his firebrand nature, belongs to Ashok Gehlot camp though his candidature was finalized with a complete consent of Pilot.

After the papers were filed, Pilot and Gehlot unitedly told the media that the Congress was hopeful of a win. They even said the party’s fortunes were bright and that it would win all the three seats.

Addressing a rally on this occasion, Pilot took a jibe at Raje government for pushing development in Rajasthan back while praising work done by Gehlot.

“Many things happened in Ajmer during Gehlot and my tenure. Gehlot supported me overwhelmingly. Let’s debate on the prospects of these leaders and even the BJP candidate (this time) will agree that the Congress had done much more,” said Pilot in his address.

Meanwhile, Gehlot told, “Raghu Sharma will raise voice and fight for Ajmer. He would get work done by the state government. Our target is not far away and Congress will form a government in the assembly election. The electorate will rejoice if BJP loses,” said Gehlot. The rally was attended by senior party leaders, including AICC general secretaries CP Joshi, Avinash Pandey, and leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi.
