A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in a woodshed in Jhotwara area of the city which triggered panic in the immediate area.

The Jhotwara police and firefighters were rushed to the spot who doused the fire after over an hour of a firefight. Officials suspect that the incident was caused due to a short circuit in the machinery at the shed.

“The fire broke out around 2 PM in the woodshed situated under Khatipura overbridge. As the fire broke out, it engulfed most parts of the woodshed due to the presence of wood ply and sawdust.

The fire department was informed which rushed several tenders to the spot and local police immediately cordoned off the area while stopping vehicular movement.

The firefighters fought the outbreak for one and a half hours and completely extinguished the fire after which the vehicular movement was again started from the over the bridge.

An investigation into the matter will reveal the cause for the outbreak,” officials said. On April 19 also fire broke out in the woodshed of house belonging to one Kailash Narayan Pareek wherein one Moolchand Jain had taken a part of the house on rent to operate the woodshed.

Two cars, six bikes and various household electronic equipment like AC along with a loading tempo and even water tanks located on the terrace of the buildings turned into ashes.
