Finally, almost all the areas of Jaipur witnessed heavy rains on Monday.  Dark cloud cover was being witnessed all across the city but the rains had remained elusive. So, on Monday since 2 pm in the afternoon areas like Jhotwara, Shyam Nagar, Jyoti Nagar, Sodala, JLN Marg, Sanganer, Agra Road witnessed heavy rainfall for almost half-and hour.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan experienced scanty rains on Monday even as southwest monsoon further advanced towards eastern parts of the state. Only the two rain monitoring stations of Jaipur and Jaisalmer recorded more than 50 mm of rain over the past 24 hours. However, despite the reduction in rain, water continued to flow in rivers and dams of state.

Nine dams are reported to have already reached their maximum capacity. Of these four are in Sirohi area, two in Udaipur and one each in Jaipur, Pali and Banswara. Sirohi so far has recorded maximum rainfall this season, however, on Monday most areas of the district remained dry.

The slowdown in rain is expected to continue for some more days as the MeT department has predicted light rain and thundershowers over a few places.

Meanwhile, the skies are expected to remain cloudy and the daytime temperatures are expected to remain above 30 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state.

Advancement of southwest monsoon might bring heavy rains in several parts of eastern Rajasthan over the next week. It is expected to bring some relief to the districts of Kota, Dausa and Bundi which have experienced scanty rains this season.

However, despite less amount of rainfall in Kota, three rivers of the area that contribute to Chambal have registered good inflow of water.
