Govt to purchase moong, peanuts under PSS

State government has decided that the purchase of moong and peanuts  will be under the scheme of Price Support Scheme (PSS) this time. This purchase will be done through National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Federation of India ( NAFED) which is the nodal agency of union government Importantly, under this scheme, there is a possibility that mandi tax will be removed by the state government, informed the sources. This tax is paid by the farmers to the state government and last year because of this tax , there were problems in purchase of peanuts in the state. 

However, this time the government will have to make a revolving fund for operation of this procurement exercise and will also have to give its approval for removal of mandi tax. This is a condition under the PSS . 

The revolving fund will be made by Rajasthan state cooperative marketing federation limited ( RAJFED) which will be the nodal agency of the state government for purchase. 

The decision was taken on Friday in a meeting between state’s cooperative minister, Ajay Singh Kilak and CR Choudhary, union minister of state for consumer affairs, food and public distribution. Giving the information after the meeting , Kilak said that the government wants that the purchase of moong and peanuts should start from October 1 . Meanwhile, appropriate decision on mandi tax will be taken by the chief minister. 

Like last year, this time too 70-72 purchase centers will be made for this purchase and the farmers can also apply online for selling the produce and will have to bring copy of Bhamashah card and Girdawari report. 

C R Choudhary union minister of state or consumer affairs, food and public distribution informed that this year the minimum support price for moong has been kept as Rs 5,575 per quintal while for peanuts, it is Rs 4,450 per quintal, this includes the bonus of Rs 200 also. 

Remove mandi tax

There is a possibility that mandi tax will be removed by the state government, informed the sources. This tax is paid by the farmers to the state government and last year because of this tax , there were problems in purchase of peanuts in the state. However, this time the government will have to make a revolving fund for operation of this procurement exercise and will also have to give approval for removal of mandi tax.
