Financial issues between friends resulted in an enmity which not only resulted in the kidnapping but also death threats with arms, loot and forceful signature on blank documents. Interestingly, the friends who turned foes - are bettors (gamblers). One of the friend - the victim - had lost money in betting and the friend - the accused - had helped in coming out of the financial situation but the man denied paying for past two years and out of desperation for money, the friend who helped took an extreme step.

One Ikram Khan approached the Jawahar Circle police in the matter. “The man, in his FIR, has said that he was at his shop when two men identified as Feli Meena, Dharmpal Meena alias Sethi Meena came to his shop and told him they could get him a loan at low rates. The man agreed and sat in the duo’s Bolero jeep. The duo took him to Malviya Nagar where another man - Robin - also joined them and the men then headed for Indra Gandhi Nagar Railway line. On reaching the location, the trio suddenly attacked Ikram and started beating him. One of the men pulled out a pistol and threatened Ikram. They then forcefully took Ikram to a forest near Bassi where they called three other men with ropes and sticks,” said Munshi Lal, investigating officer, Jawahar Circle police station.

The men then tied Ikram and beat him severely and even made obscene clips of him. “The men tried to strangle him and took sixty-two thousand rupees cash he was carrying along with his ATM card and kept the man as hostage. The man was then brought back to his shop from where the men recovered two cheques and forcefully got his signatures on two blank papers and a stamp paper. The men then left Ikram and fled,” the IO said.

Interestingly, highly placed sources informed that both Ikram and Feli are best of friends and are both involved in betting. Ikram had lost four lakh rupees in betting and Feli had provided the amount, however, for two years Ikram failed to pay the same. “A search for the accused has been initiated,” officials said.
