The Forensic Laboratory probes Mahendra Kumar Garg’s room as the origin of the heart-wrenching fire that broke out at house 39, Sector 9, Vidhyadhar Nagar, on Saturday. “Most likely, the room occupied by the grandfather caught the fire first. It is a disturbing crime scene, we are reconstructing, and that room is the one with the highest probability,” Dr BB Arora, director, FSL Rajasthan, told DNA. “Our team will be visiting the site again to verify certain things. The wirings and connections are still intact.

We would like to gather some additional information regarding certain things before the final report,” Arora said. Furthermore, the department is voting on short circuit as a cause of fire.

“A short circuit is highly probable. We have checked certain domestic appliances, also, there are two power supply connections, one is single phase, and another is three phase. There is a short circuit in the three-phase connection, and one phase is burnt. We have checked the MCBs, and even they indicate short circuit. The appliances include a heater, which is the likely appliance,”

Arora said. In addition to this, Arora informed that there was more than one thing that blasted after the fire broke. “Out of four gas cylinders, one that was used and was lying outside contained some residual gas, was one of them. Due to external heat, a window AC fell down and its compressor exploded,” Arora informed. “However, the other three cylinders which had gas are safe by virtue of the location,” he added.
