A huge festive rush was seen on the railway station and bus stand on Wednesday, a day before Diwali. Since early morning, a large number of people were seen waiting at Jaipur Junction waiting to board their trains. With luggage, families boarded the train who had confirmed reservation while the ones who were waiting for the confirmation were seen running around to get the seats confirmed. Festivities seemed to be in the air at the platform itself because of the presence of so many people.

A similar scene was witnessed at railway stations like Gandhi Nagar, Durgapura and Sanganer railway station. “I have to catch the train for Delhi, I have to further go to Kanpur from there, I got my ticket confirmed a few days back only”, said RP Singh, a professional working in Jaipur who was waiting for double-decker to arrive at Gandhi Nagar railway station. As per an unofficial estimate, more than one lakh people had travelled from Jaipur on Dhanteras itself while the number was expected to go high on Wednesday.

Similar rush was seen at the Sindhi Camp bus stand. Equally large number of people meanwhile were waiting for the buses at Narayan Singh Circle. Here they travelled from Rajasthan roadways, Haryana roadways buses. The ones who did not get seats took tickets from Lok Parivahan Seva buses which were taking passengers for all major routes. Private buses made most out of this situation.
