CM Vasundhara Raje’s midas touch for city

The Ajmeri Gate of Jaipur lit in colourful lights to welcome smart service enabled development as chief minister Vasundhara Raje dedicated to public the beautification of Ajmeri Gate Junction and dockless bicycle sharing scheme on Saturday evening. Both these projects have been developed under the area based development (ABD) plan of Smart City mission. 

The chief minister on the occasion also laid foundation of four other smart city projects in the city. 

These projects to be developed at an estimated cost of over a Rs 100 crore rupees will help improve parking, water supply and electricity transmission services in city, they will also cater to the issue of space crunch in the city. 

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje during the evening also inspected the beautification works held in the area and interacted with locals to have gathered to witness the event. While some greeted her by presenting the traditional ‘Chunri’, many were eager to click a selfie with her.  

Most of those gathered were delighted as the smart city initiatives assure to solve the long standing issues of traffic congestion and parking.  “The Ajmeri Gate junction has been developed as part of the Rs 146 crore Smart Road project proposed to develop smart facilities along seven kilometer length of 10 streets in the ABD plan area,” informed an official of the Jaipur Smart City Limited. 

The dockless bicycle share system is being developed on public private partnership module and to provide rented bicycles it will reduce the need to take in motorised vehicle within the walled city. 

The project will enable people visiting the walled city area to rent bicycles on hourly basis and leave them at any of the 25 locations are marked across the ABD plan area. These bicycles equipped with GPS and advanced lock technology will not require exclusive docks. The project will provide visitors a healthy and effective medium to explore the walled city, while reducing the number of vehicles entering the walled city. 

Foundation laid for

Developing Nullah

In a smart move to find space for kiosks for farmers, parts of nullahs passing through C-Scheme and Malviya Nagar will be covered to develop space for kiosks. The project also proposes for sprucing up of the nullahs and is estimated to cost Rs 7.92 crore.

Underground cabling

The overhead electricity cable not only diminish the heritage look of Jaipur, they also remain a hazard.  The underground cabling project proposes to take these cables underground in ABD plan area. The project is estimated to cost Rs 34 crore.

24X7 water supply

Planned under the AMRUT scheme the project work to be laid foundation by CM Raje on Saturday proposes 24-hour water supply in the walled city area. The project is expected to be completed over a period of two years and estimated to cost Rs 50.68 crore.

Multi-level parking

This project is planned to create parking space for 400 cars. It will help to reduce the number of vehicles occupying the street space in walled city area. Scheduled to be completed within a year the project is estimated to cost Rs 15 crore.
