Clip viral; victim files gangrape plaint

A forty-year-old woman was gang-raped by six youths in Baran district and the crime was filmed and video uploaded on social sites. The crime was, however, committed around a month ago but the victim lodged a report in Mahila police station of Baran district after she came to know of her video being uploaded on social sites. Police have booked six persons under the section of IPC and IT Act but none of the accused has been arrested so far.

A forty-year-old woman, who works as a labourer on roadside Dhaba near Dakniya railway station in Kota on March 5 lodged a case of gang rape against six youths and of filming the crime and uploading the same on social sites, SHO Mahila police station, Baran Anis Ahamed told. The victim, in her complaint, alleged that around a month a ago, when she came Baran to reach to her in-laws’ family, one of the accused identified as Chetan Meena (21), resident of Hingoniya village of the area, who was also familiar to her, took her on his motorbike to an isolated place near Samaspura village in pretext of dropping her to her residence. At the isolated place near Samaspur, five other joined Chetan Meena and all the six took turns to rape her, the victim said alleging the accused youths also filmed the crime on mobile and the next day they dropped her near her in-laws’ home threatening to kill her family members if she disclosed the matter.

When the victim came to know that the video of gang rape was uploaded on social sites and is circulated throughout the area, she gathered the courage to lodge the case against the youths. Three persons in the crime video are visible with one pulling her hands, other raping her and the third filming the crime on mobile, the SHO added.

On the report, a case under section 376 of IPC and sections of IT Act was lodged against Chetan Meena (21) and five other and investigation was initiated, the SHO said adding the statements of the victim under section 164 before the magistrate would be recorded on Monday, he said. Further investigation into the matter has been handed over to the DSP, Baran, he added.
