There was a time when education in Rajasthan was in news – all for wrong reasons. Even the state had to invite educationists from other states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi to helm education departments. Time has changed. Now the centre is all set to adopt education model of Rajasthan, which has catapult the state to clock second rank in the recently held National Achievement Survey (NAS) conducted by the Central Government to know the learning level of school students and quality education, just behind one of the most developed states Karnataka.

Rajasthan was ranked 15th in the year 2015 survey.

The competency test conducted by the government last year was undertaken to assess the standard of education in Classes 3, 5 and 8 and reflect the learning outcomes which were recently incorporated in the Central Rules for the Right To Education Act by the government.

While the state is learnt to have fared well in the tests for all classes, it has the best score (63%) in the learning outcomes for class 8

The innovations which are creating waves at the centre include Adarsha Vidyalaya, Panchayat Elementary Education Officer (PEEO) and the merger of Anganwadi centres in government schools. Last week Rajasthan minister of state for education Vasudev Devnani met union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar to discuss innovations implemented by Rajasthan.

MINISTER'S MINUTES

The Centre is adopting some of them which include PEEO scheme, Adarsh Vidyalaya at every panchayat samiti, B.Ed. training in the government schools and merger of Anganwadi centres in government schools. Union HRD minister has said that other states should also adopt Rajasthan’s plans,” Devnani told DNA in an exclusive chat.
