She has won many battles in the ring at international level but was knocked out in her fight against a callous system at home. For the many laurels and medals in international events, boxer Seema Punia not just deserves but is entitled to get a plot at concessional rate, but even after two years she has not received it.

It is a well established policy of the state government to allot land to the players who have won medal at international level. Seema Punia who is a native of Chirawa in Jhunjhunu district won bronze medal in 81-kg category in the Asian women championship held in Vietnam this year. She was the only boxer from the state.

Recently she met local MLA Dr Rajkumar Sharma for his help and support. “I didn’t want to take this matter to either the sports minister or the chief minister because it would be embarrassing for Chirawa, but two years have passed therefore I am compelled to do so,” she said.

Seema is four times national champion and works as officer in the Railways.
