Breaking: In a major jolt to Salman Khan’s hopes for a bail on Saturday, district and sessions judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi, who was hearing his bail plea, has been transferred to Sirohi.
Ravindra Kumar Joshi has been replaced by Bhilwara district judge Chandra Kumar Songara. The late-night transfer order was issued by the Rajasthan High Court registrar general.
However, it could also be possible that Joshi will pronounce Salman’s bail order on Saturday.
Earlier on Friday, the district and sessions court put on hold its decision to grant bail to actor Salman Khan in the 1998 black buck poaching case in Kankani.
As a result, the actor had to remain in Jodhpur Central Jail even on Friday.
The court sought the records in the case and after going through these documents, the sessions judge will on Saturday decide on Salman’s bail plea.
Salman’s counsel Mahesh Bodha, who appeared before the court of the district and sessions judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi, pitched for bail for the actor on Friday.
Advocate Boda and Hastimal Saraswat told the court that Salman was falsely implicated in this case.
Eyewitness had confirmed the identity of the accused from a distance. In the court, Boda questioned the statements of the eyewitnesses.
Public Prosecutor Pokar Ram Vishnoi appealed to the court to take a decision after seeking the records. He said that a decision on the bail application of Salman should be made only after the court goes through the records.
Salman’s sisters Alvira and Arpita reached the court around 10.30 pm even before the hearing on the petition started. When the decision on the bail plea was decided, both of them were disheartened and left the court with Shera.
Salman’s lawyers fear that Salman could be sentenced in the case. This prompted them to prepare a bail application swiftly.
Salman’s counsel first took the copy of the order as soon as the actor was sentenced and submitted a bail application before the court immediately.
In the Kankani hunting case, CJM Devkumar Khatri had convicted Salman and sentenced him to five years imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
Bail wail
- Salman’s advocates believe that if on Saturday the arguments end early and the bail application is approved, then Salman will come out by evening.
- If the arguments in the courtroom get delayed and the bail application is submitted late, then the actor may have to be in jail till Monday.
- However, if the bail application is rejected, then his lawyers will have to appeal to the high court. This means that Salman will have to wait till Wednesday for a hearing
Day One in jail
- Salman was tense after reaching jail, but after getting into barrack number two he was somewhat relieved. There was a medical check-up done and his blood pressure was slightly high.
- He asked the prison guard about Mahesh Saini and the other prisoners lodged with him when he was in this jail earlier. He was told that Mahesh and elderly prisoner Amritlal had been released.
- He also gave autographs to prison guards and their children.
- At night, he ate dal-roti and mixed vegetable brought from hotel. He spent the first night smoking cigarette inside the jail. He was awake till late night and woke up at 9 am.
- On Friday morning, his friend Preity Zinta came to meet him in jail. Both of them talked for about half an hour. Zinta left assuring him that he will come out of jail soon. On this, he became emotional.
- In the afternoon, his sisters Arpita and Alvira came to meet him along with bodyguard Shera. His lunch was brought from the hotel.
