4,000 villagers get extra 50-day work under MNERGA

The government will provide employment for 150 days in 4,151 villages of 13 districts which were declared scarcity affected

In order to provide employment in over 4,000 villages which were declared scarcity affected the state government has decided to give rural folks additional 50 days of employment under MNERGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act). 

“The government will provide employment for 150 days in 4,151 villages of 13 districts which were declared scarcity affected,” said Sudarshan Sethi, ACS (rural development), in a statement released. Currently, 100 days employment is given to rural folks under the Act.  

According to the order, additional employment of 50 days will be given to people living in 1,717 villages of 10 tehsils of Barmer district, 191 of 3 tehsils of Bhilwara, 52 of three tehsils of Bikaner, 174 of 3 tehsils of Churu, 106 of a tehsil of Dungarpur and 25 villages of a tehsil in Sriganganagar district.

Similarly, 141 villages of the 3 tehsils of Hanumangarh district, 328 of 3 tehsils of Jaipur, 645 of 4 tehsils of Jaisalmer, 131 of the 2 tehsils of Jhunjhunu, 193 of 2 tehsils of Jodhpur, 24 of a tehsil in Nagaur and 424 villages of 5 tehsils in Sawai Madhopur district will also get additional employment.

The state government is continuously making announcements to provide relief to people living in the scarcity affected villages. It has postponed land revenue collection in 4,151 villages. The collection has been stayed for next six months.
