Rajasthan has banned fresh registrations of e-rickshaws.It has come as a big jolt as e-vehicles are considered non polluting and cost-effective mode of transportation for public. Abhishek Tiwari caught up with Shailendra Kumar Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary & Commissioner Transport Department about this decision.
We have banned it because manufacturers are not imparting driving training to people who are buying e-rickshaws. It is mandatory as per the law.
As soon as they start imparting training to drivers, we will resume the registration process.
Are the accidents which are happening because of e-rickshaw on daily basis city don’t bother you? We have taken this step to avert such accidents.
Yes, they need to have a driving licence. They cannot get licence till they undertake this training.
