Milind Soman continues to inspire. Recently, the 51-year-old completed the Florida Ultraman race over a course of three days. The 517.5-kilometre race was divided into swimming, cycling and running.

Along with Soman, four other Indians -  Abhishek Mishra, Kaustubh Radkar, Prithviraj Patil and Manmadh Rebba – completed the race.

The first day comprised a 10-kilometre swim and a 148-kilometre bike ride. The second day was a 276-kilometre bike ride and the final day comprised an 84-kilometre run.

Soman, who was the only barefoot runner in the race, shared some images on his Facebook page. One where he is hugged and given a kiss by his mother stands out.

The Ultraman Florida is an extremely difficult challenge to complete because of the tough terrains and weather and it’s an “invite only” contest. The athlete’s physical and mental strengths are put to test in this 3-day extreme endurance challenge. And in the end, India’s ironman made us all proud by completing the contest.
