Mulayam Singh Yadav's 'no new party' announcement and Akhilesh Yadav's 'Netaji Zindabad' tweet on Monday sealed the fate of Shivpal Yadav.

The Monday's event showed that it is the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh who has emerged has the clear winner in the ongoing Samajwadi Party feud.

A closer look at the event show how Mulayam Singh Yadav cornered his brother Shivpal Yadav for his son.

Shivpal Yadav was noticeably missing when Mulayam Singh Yadav categorically denied any spilt in the party. When asked about his brother, Mulayam Singh Yadav said that Shivpal was in Etawah.

However, sources said that Shivpal was very much in Lucknow. In fact, when Mulayam denied to make the announcement for new party, miffed Shivapl decided to give it a miss.

However, there are reports that Samajwadi Party patriarch changed his mind at the last moment.

If a press note circulated in social media is to be believed then Mulayam was to announce formation of a new political party during the press conference but he chose a last minute turnaround and ignored that press note to turn down the request of his brother.

“Despite facing humiliation for the past one year, I was making attempts to unite the party but by not inviting me in the State Convention I feel extremely humiliated in the party which was founded by me in 1992 and played a greater role in socialist movement in the country,” the unsigned press note claims.

“Taking into account workers’ feelings, I have decided to float a new political party to make a separate front with like-minded parties. A strategy for the same would be chalked out and announced soon. No one is raising voices of unemployed and Muslims so I am forced to take up this decision,” further said the press-note.

Sources close to Shivpal confided that this page of the press note was not read by Mulayam during the press conference and when he was handed over the same page again by former minister Sharda Pratap Shukla, he pushed it under the table.

However, neither Mulayam nor the Lohia Trust have confirmed the authenticity of the one-page note being circulated on the social media.

Some say that it was done at the behest of Shivpal to save himself from the embarrassment following Mulayam turning his request to launch a new outfit.

Even if the press note is correct, the fact remains Mulayam Singh Yadav is not announcing any new party, for now. Though he said that “jo baap ka nahi wo kisi ka nahi” for Akhilesh, at the same time, he also said "Baap bete me kab tak matbhed rah sakta hai, koi nahi keh sakta."

Minutes before the press conference was about to get over, an excited Akhilesh Yadav tweeted - “Netaji Zindabad, Samajwadi Party Zindabad.”
