The BJP will fight the killing of BJP and RSS workers in Kerala tooth and nail, and create so much awareness among people about it that those engaging in violence start fearing, party president Amit Shah told Zee News/DNA on Tuesday. He came down heavily on the CPI-M government in Kerala and kicked off a 'Janraksha Yatra' from the state's Payyannur region.

He said that a large number of RSS and BJP workers have been killed in Kerala over the years. "But this time, within such a short span of this government coming to power, 13 of our workers were brutally murdered, offices were burnt, houses were burnt... even two members in one family have been killed. How long will we tolerate this?", Shah asked.

He also said that the BJP has taken out this Yatra because it believes that only the people of Kerala can end the ongoing bloodshed.

Noting that it is the Constitutional responsibility of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to protect every citizen of the state, Shah asked if it is proper for a Chief Minister to identify those being killed on party lines. Shah also announced that a padyatra from Wednesday will be taken out in all state capitals to protest against the violence "unleashed" by the CPI-M.

"More than 84 BJP and RSS workers have been killed in the CM's district Kannur and I want to ask Pinarayi Vijayan, who has killed them? If he does not have answers, then I am saying Chief Minister Vijayan is responsible for the killings."

The march is being seen as the saffron party's push to emerge as a potent force in the state ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. While the BJP was always a marginal force in the southern state, it has been gaining strength there since the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, when it fetched over 10 per cent votes, and moved further to around 15 per cent votes in the 2016 Assembly polls.

Calling the Yatra a satyagraha against the atrocities and killings by the CPI-M, Shah also attacked human rights activists, asking them to "remove this perception that red violence is not violence" and reminding them "there is no colour of violence".

After meeting the family members of RSS-BJP workers killed in the political violence in the state, Shah said 11 crore BJP workers were with them.

"From Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to Assam, BJP workers will take out padyatras in every state capital to protest against the Marxist violence. BJP workers will take out a protest march to the CPI-M office in Delhi and stage a dharna there", he said.

The Yatra that starts from Payyannur will culminate in Thiruvananthapuram on October 17 after criss-crossing the state. Several Union Ministers will also participate in the march under the theme of 'All have to live! Against Jihadi-Red Terror'.
