be contacted as they were in interior Sindh where there was no communication network, Ali Nizami strongly rejected the claim.

"We did not have visa for Sindh interior region, so how could we have gone there? The reports that we could not be contacted because of network issue is totally false," he said.

"We were not among those who were involved in any illegal activities. We had gone to Pakistan to spread the message of love and peace. Some people may not have liked our message.

But, I will again go to Pakistan with greater resolve (Agli baar bhi jaoonga aur danke ki chhot par jaonga)," he said.

The duo, however, was not very forthcoming about disclosing details of their ordeal.

Sajid Nizami, son of Asif Nizami, however alleged that the duo were "taken away" based on a news report in the Karachi- based Urdu daily which claimed that they had links with Indian intelligence agency RAW.

"Sufism teaches love and peace and we have been spreading the message of love across the globe, to Pakistan also. There are good people and the bad people. And, some may not have liked it. But, they had to face humiliation now ('unko muh ki khani padi')," Ali Nizami said.

When asked as to why they were "interrogated", Nazim said they were asked about their visa and other immigration details.

At the famous 14th century shrine, the duo was welcomed with garlands and people shook hands, exchanged greetings and sought blessings of the two priests.

The narrow lanes of Nizamuddin were buzzing with activity as news of their return brought relief to people, who had been waiting anxiously for them.

Well wishers from Ajmer Sharif, where the mausoleum of another famous Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is located, also visited the dargah today to greet the two clerics.

"We are so happy about their return that I came to meet and greet them. Sufism is about peace and we must together work towards that, not hatred and acrimony," said Haji Syed Irfan Chisti, Gaddi Nashin at the shrine.

"After reaching home, we first thanked the Almighty and then offered special prayer at the dargah. We are also thankful to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for ensuring our return and well wishers from all religions who prayed for us," Ali Nizami said.
