Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday downplayed Shiv Sena's claim to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections alone saying, they were still in the alliance.

The Shiv Sena passed a resolution not to align with the BJP and go solo in the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly polls next year.

The resolution was moved by Sena MP Sanjay Raut and was passed unanimously in the party's National Executive meeting in Mumbai.

"They (Shiv Sena) have been saying a lot of things. I don't want to comment on them. As of now, we are in government. The BJP and Shiv Sena will complete its full term and whatever it takes, I am sure we will get the next term as well," Fadnavis who is in Davos to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit, told ANI.

The Sena shares an uneasy alliance with the BJP in the state and has been vocal in opposing some of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies.

Meanwhile, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray, son of Uddhav Thackeray, was also elevated as the party leader during the meet.
