WATCH: Lucknow Woman and security guard shot in hotel parking lot by motorcycle-borne assailants

According to a Hindustan Times report 32-year-old Monica Kedia was shot at by unidentified assailants, in the parking lot of a hotel in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night.

The incident took place at 9:00 pm in the parking lot of the Sky Hilton hotel at Krishna Nagar when four motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at the woman who was coming out of the hotel.

The security guard of the hotel, Shailendra Tiwari was also shot at when he tried to intervene.

While Monica sustained bullet wounds on her neck, Tiwari was hit on his right hand.

The duo were rushed to King George’s Medical University (KGMU)’s trauma centre where Monica’s condition was stated to be critical.

The victim is the  second wife of Deoria-based businessman Sanjay Kedia and lives separately from him. He stays with his first wife.

Monica told the police that she was unaware of the first marriage when she married him, and separated from him soon after she discovered he was already married.

In her statement she claimed her estranged husband could be behind the attack, HT reported senior superintendent of police (SSP) Deepak Kumar saying.

CCTV-footage from the hotel's security camera shows the assailants approaching her car and firing at her.

“Efforts are also on to track the woman’s husband,” said the SSP to HT.
