More than 240 sleeping bags, blankets and warm cloths have been sent to 30 snow covered polling booths situated in Dharchula Assembly constituency in poll-bound Uttarakhand.

The materials were arranged from the Army, ITBP, PRD and disaster management department by the district administration that has started preparation to protect polling personnels in the high-altitude areas.

"We have sent the material to the sub-divisional headquarters of Dharchula and Munsiyari in the constituency.

The election officers will make sure to distribute the materials, " District Election Officer Pithoragarh Ranjit Sinha said.

He said the materials will be sent by mules to polling booths as these are not connected by motor-able roads.

"Parties will be dispatched to these booths three days before polling day," Sinha said, adding 12 medical kits fitted with oxygen cylinder are being also sent.

Solar lanterns, wireless, radio sets are being installed in 64 booths with no electricity connections and no communication facilities, the officer said.
