Vidharbha and Central Maharashtra to face heat wave for next few days

With neighbouring states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan reeling under heat wave, weathermen claim that as per the forecast, even Vidharbha and Central Maharashtra will face heat wave for next few days.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, when the maximum temperatures of a place is consistently 40 degree Celsius or above and temperatures have been around 4 to 6 degree Celsius above normal, its considered to be under heat wave.

“We have already issued warnings for heat wave on April 15 as well as 16 for Vidharbha and Central Maharashtra. Also, there is a likelihood of high humidity levels along the Maharashtra coastal belt that will cause discomfort even though the temperature might not shoot up,” said an IMD official.

In fact, on April 14, the maximum temperature at Nagpur was 44.4 degree Celsius, which was four degree Celsius above normal while the maximum temperature recorded at Chandrapur was 44.8 degree Celsius ,which was also four degree Celsius above normal. Situation at other places across Maharashtra too remained same as maximum temperatures at places including Yavatmal (42.0 degree Celsius) Amravati (43.6 degree Celsius) and Pune (40.6 degree Celsius) remained high.

While in Mumbai the maximum temperatures recorded at Colaba was 34.2 degree Celsius the humidity recorded was 81% while the maximum temperature recorded at Santacruz was 34.5 degree Celsius and the humidity was 70%.
