Very heavy rainfall forecast in Bengal's western districts ow

The western districts of West Bengal, where several low-lying areas have been inundated following the precipitation in the last two days, are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall till tomorrow, the Met department said here today.

"The districts of Purulia, Bankura and West Burdwan are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall till tomorrow, while districts in Gangetic West Bengal may experience moderate to heavy rain," regional Met director G K Das said.

Bankura received 226 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 a m today, the highest in the state during the period.

Asansol in West Burdwan district recorded 119.9 mm rainfall during the period, while Burdwan recorded 42 mm and Sriniketan 83 mm, the Met department said.

The metropolis received 28.3 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 am today and the Met department has forecast cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain in the next three days.
