A month after suspected ISIS terrorist Saifullah was killed in a police encounter in Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) busted a module with ISIS links, arresting three suspects.

The arrests were made after the UP ATS conducted raids in a joint operation with the special cell of Delhi police, Maharashtra ATS, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab Police.

"The police have arrested three suspects from Mumbai, Jalandhar and Bijnor and six others are being questioned," said UP ATS in a statement.

A suspect arrested from Mumbra city near Mumbai has been identified as Nazim Shamshad Ahmed, and those arrested from Bijnor's Badhapur have been identified as Mufti Faizan and Tanjir Ahmad.

The raids were conducted after the police received information that a group was being formed to launch terror strikes and some active members were in the process of recruiting new members.

The counter intelligence cell of Telangana Police provided the lead while keeping an eye on social media chats. The suspects, self radicalised were in touch with each other through social media.

Last month, a man named Saifullah, who was allegedly linked to the blast in a Bhopal-Ujjain train, was killed by police after a 12-hour stand-off.

The encounter came as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh police teams carried out arrests of several "self-radicalised" persons suspected to be linked to the train blast in Shajapur in MP in which ten persons were injured.

Around 80 people suspected to have been influenced by the ISIS ideology have been held across the country recently, but no input suggests that the radical organisation has established a base in India, the government had informed the Rajya Sabha in April.

There is 'no need to be worried' about the radical Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) spreading in India, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said.
