Undertrial shot dead in Rohini court complex

An undertrial, Rajesh Durmut, was shot dead in the Rohini district court, triggering frenzy in the court complex on Saturday morning. Two motorcycle-borne men entered the court complex, and one of them pumped two bullets into Durmut's chest from point-blank range.

The incident took place at 11.30 am outside Gate number 5 of the court complex when Durmut was being produced by the Haryana police for a routine hearing He was lodged in the Jhajjar jail.

The shoot-out is believed to be the outcome of a gang war. Mohit, alias Atankwadi, who shot dead Durmut, was arrested within seconds, while his accomplice Satish fled. Mohit was inebriated, the police said.

Durmut was a member of the Neetu Dabodia gang and was arrested in a murder case in December last year. Mohit is a sharpshooter of the rival Neeraj Bawana gang.

"Two country-made pistols were recovered from Mohit. Durmut is a wanted criminal in Outer Delhi's Bawana area," said Rishi Pal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer). Durmut, he said, was involved in several cases of burglary, robbery, dacoity and murder.

Durmut was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. "A case of murder another under the Arms Act have been registered at the Prashant Vihar police station. We are identifying the men behind the killing who had hired Mohit to execute the murder," said Pal.
