A day after announcing his decision to resign as Maharashtra industries minister, senior Congress leader Narayan Rane on Friday attacked Shiv Sena party chief Uddhav Thackeray saying that he harassed Balasaheb Thackeray more than anyone else.

Speaking to journalists, Rane said, “Uddhav has troubled Balasaheb and old leaders. Shiv Sainiks, police personals and others working at 'Matoshree' know this."

On Thursday, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackaray had criticised Rane saying that he would not get entry into the BJP, adding that the Sena-BJP alliance had in place a mutual agreement where they would not give entry to any person who troubles their alliance.

Rane, who has been unhappy with the party's functioning under Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had announced that he would be resigning on Monday.

“If Uddhav criticises me again then I will expose him. Uddhav is unaware of the Konkan region issues. Also, he lacks leadership qualities and Shiv Sena could win 17 seats in the Lok Sabha elections only because of the Modi effect. Though I am resigning as the Industries Minister, I am not leaving the Congress party and I will disclose the reasons behind my resignation on Monday,” Rane said.

“I am not going to criticise the high command, but injustice is being done to loyal leaders and workers in the party,” Rane added.

Questioning Uddhav’s contribution to the welfare of Konkani people, Rane said, “Uddhav doesn't have the moral right to criticise me and if he continues to do so, I will expose him. Uddhav should first understand the issues of the people and then dream of becoming the Chief Minister."
