Two senior Enforcement Directorate officials overseeing important cases have sought repatriation to their parent cadre.

According to sources, both have been slapped with serious charges like ineffective supervision and meeting accused persons.
However, sources alleged that the officers are seeking transfer due to their inability to toe political lines. A 1990-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IPS officer Naqvi was in charge of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat regions. He was solely responsible for crucial cases like IPL team forex violation, Lalit Modi deportation, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians forex violation, betting scam, Maharashtra Sadan scam, Louis Berger Goa scam, and few others.
Sources said ED director Karnal Singh and the government were not satisfied with the ongoing investigations Naqvi's supervision. In fact both ED officials were in Delhi last week to sort out the issues, but in vain.
Queries sent to both officials remained unanswered. "The decision by the two officials was believed to be influenced by Ahmedabad bribery case –in which CBI filed a bribery case in October against three ED officials including the joint director J P Singh for taking bribery amount of Rs 15 crore," a source with the direct knowledge of the matter said.
The investigation on Singh started on September 23, with the CBI searching his residence. The CBI had launched the probe on the basis of the complaint filed by betting scam accused --Dulraj Jain, Anil Jaisinghani, Mansukh Jain, Mukesh Sharma and Afroz Fatta.
All five allegedly are bookies and the complaint was that Singh had taken bribes from them for the betting case to be dropped. However, till now CBI has not been able to establish the allegation against Singh.
Sources said officially both these senior officials are facing serious allegations of inefficiency and meeting accused persons on various occasions. For instance, there is a talk in the enforcement department that Naqvi has had an informal conversation with Shah Rukh Khan during his visit to ED office for questioning in connection with alleged forex violation in November.
