Two held with rare Himalayan herb Kirajadi worth Rs 18 lakh

Two men of Nepali origin were held in Chamoli district after being found in possession of 1.25 kg of Kirajadi, a rare Himalayan herb, worth around Rs 18 lakh in the international market.

Vir Bahadur and Lok Bahadur Shahi, who hail from Jumla district of Nepal, were arrested yesterday following raids conducted in different police station areas and 1.25 kg of Kirajadi also called Yarsagambu was recovered from their possession, Chamoli district police said.

This quantity of the herb seized from the duo is worth nearly Rs 18 lakh in the international market, he said.

Also known as Himalayan viagra, Kirajadi or Yarsagambu is a herb found at a height of 3,300 metres up to 4000 metres in the Himalayan regions of Nepal, Bhutan, India and Tibet.

Rich in medicinal qualities, the herb is much in demand internationally and is used for treating impotency.
