Three members of a family were arrested today for allegedly attacking their daughter-in-law, police said here.

Those arrested have been identified as Abdul Hafeez, Atiya Khulsum and their daughter Sabina Sultana, said police officials.

The victim was married to one Usman Qureish, who left for a job assignment to US, soon after marriage. Later he sent divorce papers to her and also a message on social media saying "talaq talaq talaq", a police official of Moghalpura said.

"Hafeez (father-in-law) informed us that his son has sent divorce papers and informed about talaq to his wife through a message.

"The victim says she did not receive any divorce papers from her husband. We are consulting Sharia (Muslim Law) experts," said a police officer.

"We received a complaint from the daughter-in-law that she was attacked by her in-laws last week. Based on the complaint we have arrested the family members on March 2," the police official told
