This year, your odds of getting an affordable MHADA house are 1 in 118

40 of the rejected applications have the same bank account number under different names. As they are out of the fray and will not be participating in the draw, there is no reason for any criminal action against them, said CK Dange, joint chief officer of Mumbai board of MHADA.

Out of 1,26,200 applications received by Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) for this year's housing lottery draw, 632 applications have been rejected.

Some of these rejected applications have the same bank account number under various names. It is the first time that such entries have been rejected by the housing agency.

"40 of the rejected applications have the same bank account number under different names. As they are out of the fray and will not be participating in the draw, there is no reason for any criminal action against them," said CK Dange, joint chief officer of Mumbai board of MHADA.

After the rejection of 632 applications, there remain 118 applications on an average for each housing unit that MHADA has put up for sale through the lottery draw. These flats are at various locations such as Sion, Goregaon, Mulund, and Mira Road.

The lottery draw for 1,063 affordable homes is scheduled to be conducted on the morning of Sunday, May 31, at Rangsharda Auditorium in Bandra West.

Within a fortnight from the lottery draw, the authorities will begin refunding the earnest money deposit to the applicants who did not figure in the lottery draw list.
