Telecom operator blocks Bangalore man’s SIM, turns out he is Karnataka Aadhaar boss

Prabhakar HL is an agitated man. Well, anyone would be if the telecom operator deactivates your SIM card. 

When he tried to find out the reason, he was told that he ‘failed’ to link his SIM with his Aadhaar number. 

Call it an irony of epic proportion that the man himself is the project director for Aadhaar (UID) in Karnataka and works at the Centre for e-Governance.

Service provider kept on saying that the OTP linkage has not happened and that Prabhakar must give his fingerprints in order to resume the service, the Bangalore Mirror report said. However, he denied to do so, and told the company that he knows the rules all too well. 

‘This is absolutely ridiculous. Why should I prove my identity to them all over again? I had given my documents when I got the connection and I have also done the Aadhaar authentication. The irony is that I head the division that gives identity cards to people and the cell phone service provider is trying to fool me,’ Prabhakar was quoted as saying by Bangalore Mirror.

The company maintains that it has not deactivated any SIM and it is still looking into the case. It also added tha it is setting up camps so that people can link their phones with Aadhaar.
